20x24x2 Aerostar Air Filter

The 20x24x2 Aerostar measures 19 3/8" x 23 3/8" x 1 3/4" actual. A 2-inch filter in a nominal 20x24 slot was common spec on older residential furnaces and remains widely used in light commercial systems. Two-inch depth means roughly twice the debris-holding capacity of a 1-inch equivalent and a noticeably lower pressure drop across the filter face. MERV 8 covers baseline residential filtration. MERV 11 handles pet dander, smoke residue, and most household allergens. MERV 13 captures fine particulates including bacteria, virus carriers, and wildfire smoke. The deeper pleat depth makes higher MERV grades more practical because face pressure drops as filter depth increases - MERV 13 in a 2-inch filter is meaningfully easier on the blower than MERV 13 in a 1-inch. Plan on a 4-to-6-month service interval for MERV 8 and 11 in typical residential conditions, 2 to 4 months for MERV 13 under similar load. Heavy-load environments - multiple pets, active cooking schedules, smoke events - shorten those intervals regardless of MERV grade.
